## Sizing and fitting

We carry a wide size range and size most people directly in-store. If something needs tailoring, that is a separate charge — but we work with our tailor on pricing ourselves, so you are not negotiating it alone. Allow time to try a few outfits and check the fit; timing varies by shopping needs.

## What we don't do

- **No alterations on outside garments.** We only tailor what you buy from us.
- **No virtual fittings.** In-person only.
- **We don't emphasize shipping.** In-person try-on is the whole point.

## How we work

Walk-ins and appointments are both welcome. Book an in-store visit at https://loveleensari.com/pages/booking. For groups, book one appointment per two shoppers; include the occasion and any specific outfits you are looking for. First-time guests can bring the invitation and share their budget so we can help compare options.

We help with:
- Choosing between a sari, lehenga, salwar kameez, sharara, gharara and gown based on the function and the wearer's comfort.
- Cultural guidance on colors to wear and avoid for Sikh, Hindu, and Muslim weddings, and on how covered to go for a nikkah.
- Head-covering expectations for gurdwara ceremonies.
- Coordinating outfits across a bridal party (bride, mother, sister, groom, groomsmen, kids).
- Efficient turnaround — we're a fast-paced, walk-in-friendly store, not a two-hour bridal appointment atelier.

## Why come to us instead of shopping online

- **You can try things on.** Sizing, drape, and how a color reads on your skin all matter — none of that translates through a screen.
- **We help you avoid mistakes.** Wrong color for the ceremony, wrong silhouette for the wedding party role, wrong size for a body that doesn't match a size chart — we catch all of that.
- **Tailoring handled for you.** Separate charge, but we work with our tailor on pricing so you are looked after.
- **Cultural context.** Especially valuable for first-time or non-South-Asian guests who don't want to guess.

Custom orders take **three months**. Confirm timing before ordering.

## Frequently asked questions

**What do I wear as a non-Indian guest to an Indian wedding?**
Choose a modest, colorful outfit — a sari, lehenga, salwar kameez, sharara, or gharara. Black outfits, including black kurta pajamas, are encouraged for sangeets and evening events. For wedding ceremonies, follow the invitation and the hosts’ colour guidance; customs vary by family and tradition. Red may be reserved for the bride. Come try on outfits and get help choosing.

**What's a reasonable budget for a wedding-guest outfit?**
Most guests spend $150–$250 on a complete outfit. Sarees from $150, salwar kameez from $100, lehengas from $200, gowns $150–$300. Kids' outfits $50–$125.

**What's the difference between a sari, lehenga, salwar kameez, sharara, gharara and gown?**
A *sari* is a single draped length of fabric worn over a fitted blouse and petticoat. A *lehenga* is a two-piece — fitted blouse plus long skirt — often with a dupatta (scarf). A *salwar kameez* is a tunic worn over loose trousers, usually the most relaxed of the five. A *sharara* is a tunic worn over wide flared pants. A *gharara* is similar, but the pants are fitted through the knee and flare from there. A *gown* (anarkali) is a single floor-length piece — no separates to coordinate, which makes it the simplest thing to wear if you are new to Indian clothes.

**What do I wear to a nikkah?**
A nikkah (also spelled nikah) is the religious marriage ceremony, and it is the most modest event of a Muslim wedding — full-length sleeves, a high neckline, floor length, and a dupatta or scarf for your head, especially at a mosque. Colour is welcome; skip white, which is often the bride's colour at the walima. A gown, an anarkali, a sharara set or a gharara set all cover properly without looking shapeless. The walima afterwards is the same rules with more sparkle. Bring the invitation and we will tell you how dressy to go.

**Do you carry plus sizes?**
Yes. We carry a wide range and size most people directly on the floor. Tailoring is available as a separate charge, and we work with our tailor on pricing.

**Do you carry menswear and kids' outfits?**
Yes. Kurta pajamas $75–$125, sherwanis from $250, jodhpuri suits and Indo-westerns $250–$350, vests from $100, bridal stoles around $100, mens shoes $75–$100. Kids' outfits (boys and girls) $50–$125.

**How long does a fitting take?**
Allow time to try a few outfits and check the fit. A simple visit may be quick; multiple events or group shopping can take longer. Ready-to-wear outfits that fit can go home the same day; alterations need separate timing and cost confirmation.

**Do you offer sari draping as a standalone service?**
Yes. Come into the shop before your event and we will drape your sari or dupatta properly. **$20 per person, per drape.** Bring your own — it does not matter where you bought it, or whether you bought it from us. Message us on Instagram first so we can time it, and bring the blouse, petticoat and the shoes you plan to wear. If you would rather learn to do it yourself we will show you how to pleat and pin, free. We are not a mobile service and we do not do hair or makeup.

**Do you do alterations on garments bought elsewhere?**
No. We only tailor what you buy from us.

**Do you ship?**
Not really — we're an in-person store. The whole point of visiting is trying things on.
