Diwali Outfits in Artesia
Diwali is Sunday 8 November 2026. We are on Pioneer Boulevard, and you can walk in.
Loveleen Sari Palace has been on this street since 1990. We are a family-run shop in the middle of Artesia's Little India, the largest South Asian shopping district in Southern California. For Diwali we dress whole families — women, men, kids, and the relatives flying in who forgot to pack anything.
No appointment. Most people are sorted in about twenty minutes.
Come in September or early October
Here is the honest advice, and it costs us money to give it: do not leave this until the week before.
The festival run this year is almost four weeks solid. Navratri is 11 to 19 October, Dussehra is 20 October, and Diwali is 8 November. From the second week of October the shop does not really quieten down again until the middle of November.
The last two weekends before Diwali — 31 October to 1 November and 7 to 8 November — are the worst of it. The parking lot fills, the fitting area has a queue, and the thing you had your eye on in September is often gone. If you can come in September or the first week of October, you will have the whole floor to choose from and our full attention.
If you do leave it late, still come. We would rather sort you out in a busy shop than have you turn up to the party in something you do not feel good in. Just come on a weekday if you possibly can.
What people actually wear
Diwali is not a wedding, so the rules are looser and the mood is brighter. Colour is the whole point. Jewel tones, warm brights, gold work, anything that catches the light. There is no bride to avoid clashing with, so wear the red if you want the red.
Women
A saree, a lehenga, a salwar kameez, a sharara or gharara set, or a gown. For a house party or a puja, a salwar kameez or a gown is plenty. For a big organised Diwali night, people go harder — lehengas and heavier work. If you have never worn Indian clothes before, start with a gown: it is one piece, the length and sleeves are built in, and there is nothing to drape.
Men
A kurta pajama covers almost every Diwali invitation you will get. Add a Nehru vest over it and you are dressed for the dressier ones. Jodhpuri suits and Indo-westerns if you want to go further.
Kids
Kids get dressed up more than anyone at Diwali and grow out of it by next year, so we keep this end affordable on purpose. Lehengas and salwar sets for girls, kurta pajamas and mini sherwanis for boys.
What it costs
Most people spend $150 to $250 on a complete outfit. We flex up and down from that. Nothing here is a starting position for a negotiation — these are the real numbers.

We carry XS to 5XL and size most people right there on the floor. If something needs tailoring that is a separate charge, and we work out the price with our tailor ourselves so you are not negotiating it alone. Around Diwali, leave time for alterations — that is another reason not to come on 7 November.
Finding us
18507 Pioneer Boulevard, Artesia, CA 90701. Free parking in our own lot directly behind the store, which matters more than usual in late October.
Open Tuesday to Sunday, closed Mondays. Tuesday to Friday from 12:15 PM, Saturday and Sunday from 11:15 AM, and we close at 6:45 PM. Diwali falls on a Sunday this year, so we are open on the day itself.
Pioneer Boulevard is a walkable strip rather than a mall — park once and do it on foot. There is more on the street than clothes: jewellery, sweets, groceries and restaurants. Most people shop first and eat after.
Before Diwali there is Navratri
If you are doing garba during Navratri, that is a different outfit and a different set of rules — you have to be able to spin in it. We have written that up separately.
